What was thought to be a heavyweight contest has turned into a beatdown in the Western Conference semifinals matchup between Denver and Minnesota.
After pulling out a 106-99 Game 1 win in Denver, the Wolves — without Defensive Player of the Year winner Rudy Gobert — blasted the Nuggets in Game 2, 106-80.
Minnesota will now go home with a 2-0 lead over the defending champions, and after sitting at +490 on the championship oddsboard on Monday (second), the Nuggets are now at +1600 (sixth).
The Wolves were third on the board at +600 on Monday. As of Thursday, they are second, at +300.
Still, Skip Bayless said on Tuesday’s “Undisputed” that he expects the Nuggets to show their championship mettle in Game 3.
“I am not giving completely up on these Denver Nuggets. This team has too much basketball character to lay down and die in Game 3. I think you will get their best shot.”
